About the Event

From the soaring choral beauty of J.S. Bach to the youthful energy of Mendelssohn—and a healthy dose of musical comedy—this program offers something for every ear.

The Program

  • Felix Mendelssohn: String Symphony No. 8 in D major
Composed when Mendelssohn was just 13 years old, this work is a marvel of youthful genius. It sparkles with “Alpine freshness” and sophisticated counterpoint that rivals the great masters
  • Bach: Cantata 82

We are honored to feature bass Stuart Duke in J.S. Bach’s profound Cantata BWV 82, Ich habe genug, a masterpiece of soulful reflection composed in 1727.

  • The program also highlights the vibrant textures of Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto for Oboe and Bassoon (RV 545), showcasing the spirited dialogue between woodwinds and strings. We also take a detour into the “forgotten” archives of P.D.Q. Bach for the delightfully eccentric Sonata for Viola 4 Hands.
